Radio Tactics sparks media interest with latest ACESO roll out announcement

Without doubt the key benefit of ACESO is the speed with which officers can act on time-critical information, such as texts and images. But this technology is also helping to improve relationships between the police and public. Cases where no further action is required can be identified instantly and, for those deemed worthy of further investigation, officers are able to reunite suspects with their mobile phones quickly when, previously, they could be separated from their handsets for months, if not weeks while they were processed.

Andy Gill, CEO, Radio Tactics

When Radio Tactics recently announced the roll out of its specialist ACESO mobile device data extraction solution into 16 Metropolitan Police Service boroughs, the response from the media was overwhelming. Coverage of the news that officers would be able to capture evidentially-sound data from suspects’ handsets in minutes and subsequent public interest clearly demonstrated society’s willingness to embrace new technologies that can dramatically accelerate the judicial process and, ultimately, help to combat crime.

Within hours of the announcement being made, the UK’s major news networks, including the BBC and Sky had contacted Radio Tactics to arrange live broadcasts and recorded interviews to illustrate how the ACESO solution and its secure, locked down extraction procedure actually works and why it is proving so popular with forward-thinking police forces around the world.

As Sky Reporter, Ashish Joshi, explained: ‘The Police already have the ability to extract data from mobile telephones, but in the past they’ve had to send these away to laboratories for forensic examination. Now, that technology will be available to local officers in local stations - the whole criminal investigation process has just become that much quicker.’

Other law enforcement experts were also quick to support the public’s perception that the more powers the police have to detect, investigate and solve crime, lawfully and in accordance with legal guidelines, the safer local communities will become.

‘We’re seeing a change in the technical systems used,’ confirmed former DCI, Peter Kirkham. ‘The Police and Criminal Evidence Act, the Data Protection Acts… will apply just the same before this kit started being used.’

Other news channels, including The Daily Mail, The Guardian, The Telegraph, G3 Defence and review site Übergizmo soon published the announcement and enquiries from current affairs and technical journalists followed in quick succession; news of the Metropolitan Police Service’s ACESO roll out even became the lead technology story on the BBC’s website.

Throughout the day, interviews with Radio Tactics’ CEO, Andy Gill, were broadcast on mainstream news programmes as he explained how ACESO is empowering police officers with secure, instant data capture capabilities that mean intelligence can be acted on immediately and the lengthy delays associated with traditional, outsourced forensic processes eliminated.

Indeed, as the ACESO solution begins to make its mark on the Metropolitan Police Service’s crime-fighting operations, Radio Tactics is hopeful that further boroughs will explore this innovative technology that’s making the news for all the right reasons.
