Other law enforcement experts were also quick to support the public’s perception that the more powers the police have to detect, investigate and solve crime, lawfully and in accordance with legal guidelines, the safer local communities will become.
‘We’re seeing a change in the technical systems used,’ confirmed former DCI, Peter Kirkham. ‘The Police and Criminal Evidence Act, the Data Protection Acts… will apply just the same before this kit started being used.’
Other news channels, including The Daily Mail, The Guardian, The Telegraph, G3 Defence and review site Übergizmo soon published the announcement and enquiries from current affairs and technical journalists followed in quick succession; news of the Metropolitan Police Service’s ACESO roll out even became the lead technology story on the BBC’s website.
Throughout the day, interviews with Radio Tactics’ CEO, Andy Gill, were broadcast on mainstream news programmes as he explained how ACESO is empowering police officers with secure, instant data capture capabilities that mean intelligence can be acted on immediately and the lengthy delays associated with traditional, outsourced forensic processes eliminated.
